Belle Ameli was a small artisan brand, that I created in 2022, because I wanted better products for my family and myself. I had been using plant-based products since forever and they did not seem to care much for my skin. Which did not seem to improve over time, no matter how much I spent on a product. Then I started formulating skin oils myself in 2016 but it did not really improve my skin long-term, quite the contrary really. So, I had to find another way to sooth my husband´s rosacea/dermatitis skin and my own highly pigmented and dry skin. Eating more animal fats and only low PUFA fats, helped a lot on the dryness I used to experience, but not so much on my pigmentation spots and the general aging of my skin.

“One spring day in 2020 I found an old recipe for washed butter, while I was pregnant with our daughter. I washed a lot of butter and formulated a balm for my pregnant belly, it was just amazing how it soothed my old stretch marks and how it helped my skin not to form new ones.”
So, this was how I started formulating skincare with animal-based ingredients. In 2021 I started rendering my own tallow, because it is such an amazing stable, to have in your kitchen. While cooking with it, I also experienced how healing it seemed to be, when I basted a roast with it and got some on my dry hands. So, I started researching and soon found that Beef Tallow had been used for hundreds of years in soaps and balms for human skin. The main reason why tallow is so soothing for our skin, is that the lipid profile in beef tallow is similar to the human sebum. So in 2022, I started formulating balms and soaps. I found that these tallow-based formulas reduced my pigmentation and fine lines, they soothed my husband´s eczema and rosacea and our baby girls sensitive skin. So in the Autumn of 2022, I started giving balms away and soon after selling it to friends and their friends. I have been selling my formulas ever since and the customers I have, are very loyal and keep coming back for more products.

All my balms and soaps are animal-based and free from harsh chemicals. That means that the majority of the product comes from animals, I use beef tallow as a base in all my balms, I use unrefined beeswax, unrefined raw manuka honey or raw local seasonal honey, raw silk and EMU oil in my formulas. These are my main ingredients and then I sometimes add low PUFA fats like cacao butter, local extra virgin olive oil and Golden Jojoba from Israel. I use plenty of herbs, flowers, resins, minerals and a very limited amount of essential oils in some products, but not all. I Never use high PUFA seed oils or essential oils made from seeds, I simply don´t want it in my products, since I have experienced how they prematurely age our skin and create pigmentation spots on it. I don´t use Coconut oil anymore either, it simply tends to make imbalances in the skin, just like I do not use preservatives, I rely on Vitamin E and and Zechstein saline to preserve my products.
After 2 years of renewing and improving my skin & haircare therapies repeatedly. I have found a balance within my formulation practices. A balance that I found asking God for guidance, it is as simple as that. Through prayer, I learned not to become too polarized in my formulation. Balance is the closest we may come to perfection, when it comes to skin & hair therapies. By creating a constructive balance with the fats I use, I experience far more healing. So, my new line of products from Maison Frost, mirror this philosophy of balance within and between elements. A fine balance between animal and low PUFA plant fats, waxes, herbs, flowers, resins and minerals. Made by hand and in prayer, in a limited scale. I only make very small batches every 2-3 months, so the availability is very limited. All my products are handmade and packed beautifully for you to cherish while using them.
I create serums and balms for the face, lips and body.
I create soaps for the face, body and hair.
I create natural and modest make-up.
Everything we do is a product of a chemical reaction, this is very evident when formulating soap, which I learned back in 1999 when I was working at an artisan savonnerie in London. Soap is a beautiful process where a bar of salt is created, yes soap is a salt. Therefore, a shampoo bar that does not contain a saponification process cannot be called a soap, since a chemical foamer has been added to it. It is not a salt, a real soap is exactly that. It is currently a major marketing gimmick for many beauty brands, to write “without soap” on their products. My subjective opinion to this is: Soap has been made for over a thousand years, simply by adding (lye) sodium hydroxide to melted fat, in the old days they used pot-ash. This is how soap has been made for centuries and the “without soap” movement is yet another beauty hoax, in my opinion. This type of fake products tend to create major imbalances in the skin, and especially the scalp over time. A classical bar of soap does quite the opposite. It actually balances the skin, especially if it´s made with tallow and other balancing fats. That is also why I LOVE to make good old-fashioned tallow soap.

I have created a line of high quality cold process soaps. Made with 72-88% tallow combined wit 3 other types of fats, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Raw Criollo Cocoa Butter, Virgin Golden Jojoba oil from Israel. Most of my soaps also contain silk proteins, minerals, herbs and flowers. I also make a line for sensitive skin and individuals, which is completely free from essential oils. I do not use any preservatives, foaming agents, coloring or unnatural perfumes in my soaps. I use essential oils sparingly, in some of my soaps, only the highest quality (some of which I distill myself) and none of them are ever based on seed extraction.
I have a line of Hair bars all are handmade and as with all my soaps made with a traditional cold-process saponification. They are made with a minimum of 88% beef tallow and no coconut oil is added. I primarily use tallow in my soaps, as tallow is a wonderful fat, that has been used in skin and hair care by humans for more than a thousand years. Just 100 years ago, the use of animal fats in everything from soaps, skincare and cleaning articles was completely normal. That changed when the industrialization took hold, mainly because the industry realized that it was much cheaper to produce high PUFA seed oils than animal fats, which are a sustainable bi-product from the animals we eat. It is also a much more nourishing fat for human skin and hair, than any seed oil ever will be. Unfortunately animal fats have been stigmatized as unhealthy, wrong, disgusting and unethical to use, which of cause is false.
The propaganda against animal products is based on lies, that will make you fear, one of the most natural and nourishing products available to humankind. Tallow actually has a similar lipid profile as to our very own sebum, which no plant oil can boast of. It is rather logical though, since we are animals and therefore high PUFA (seed oils) are not as good for our skin and bodies, as we have been told, quite the contrary actually.
My line of products take us back to a traditional skincare approach, which I mix with modern technology and age old knowledge. By using active ingredients that support our skins cellular renewal and healing. I use traditional remedies like herbs, root bark, flowers, minerals and resins.
I spend hours and days creating my own raw materials, such as the beef tallow I use as a base in my balms and soaps. Which I render from the most exclusive leaf fat from the kidney area of the cow. The hydrolyzed silk, I make from raw silk peptides and the macerated oils and flower hydrosols that I distill from Sacred Oman Frankincense resins and Wild flowers and herbs, from our wild garden and forest in Brittany.
The most important in a skin or haircare product will always be the raw materials of which they are based upon. My products are never based on water and always based on Tallow which will make all the difference for your skin. Beef tallow is a non-comedogenic fat and it will sooth your skin, the products you purchase from Maison Frost, will also last much longer than any industrial formula. It is the quality of the ingredients that carry the results of my products, which you will experience when using them on your skin.
If you wish to try my products, it is possible to Pre-Order them in the Shop. I produce every other month, so you must expect 3-4 weeks production time. Sometimes we do have some left-over stock, in that case we will dispatch your order within a week.
Sincerest Regards
